Slate Patios:
Natural stone tiles typically ½” thick with mortar based to new or existing concrete base, with mortared or color exterior grouting many sizes and patterns are available from 12” or 16” squares, to versatile (multi-sized) tiles.
Paver Patios:
The first step is to remove all the grass and then excavate to a depth of approx 6 to 6 ½ inches. We lay a geo-textile weed cloth, then covered with approx 14” decomposed granite gravel base, compacted with a plate compactor.
Next approx 1” of sand & portland sub base for stability and to acquire a proper slope for drainage. Then lay our pavers either with a random pattern or a specific pattern on Holland stone (Brick look) series such as running bond, basket weave, 45 degree herringbone or 90 degree herringbone.
Final step is to sweep a fine sand into the joints, or polymeric sands with a variety of colors upon request, Pavers come in many styles & colors such as Holland stone, 3pc cobblestone, antiqued with a tumbled type finish, medium 3pc, and large 3pc.
Pavers can be cut to most patio designs curved, square or rectangular shapes.
Pavers can also be installed over existing concrete using a 1” sand and portland sub base and wet set outer edges.
Travertine Patios:
Travertine pavers are 1 ¼” thick with sizes ranging from 12” to 16”, to multi sized (versatile) patterns. Typical installation is to remove grass and excavate approx 6”, lay geo textile weed mat, then compact with a granite gravel base of approx 4”, approx 1” sand and portland sub base, then wet set outer edges.
Travertine can also be laid over existing concrete using approx 1” sand & portland then wet set outer edgers, or mortar set ½ travertine tiles with mortar or color exterior grout joints.
Porcelain Patios:
Exterior grade porcelain is designed with a “Flamed finish” anti-slip surface, typically mortared to an existing concrete patio or a newly poured one. Mortared or grouted joints with different spacings depending on personal preference. From mixed sizes, running bonds or straight type patterns.
